I just came across this new MSB 40-085/1 on the Diamond Support website.
It seems that within our next 100 flight hours or one year from the Nov 20, 2018 posting we need to remove the gust locks on the pilot side. Diamond has found that in two aircraft the gust locks limit rudder travel when the pedals are fully forward, as the gust locks may slightly touch the canopy gas spring damper. Diamond believes the work should only take a 1/2 hour to address.
Has anyone already addressed this MSB? And if so, any lessons learned?
Thanks

It looks like it would be really straightforward to check if this interference actually occurs, so I wonder why the MSB isn't conditional on that? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Re: New MSB 40-085/1...Pilot Gust Lock Removal
Just to make the comment that an MSB is not a "must" for Part-91 operated aircraft unless it is accompanied with an AD. On the other hand, there is obviously a good reason why it is an MSB compared to an RSB or OSB...
I checked with Diamond regarding my DA40 (S/N 40.799) and was told that the MSB would be not applicable as my DA40 is still using the older gust lock mounts.
The MSB has text that says that affected aircraft are:
All aircraft with Milled Rudder Pedal Assemblies: (P/N DA4-2723-31-00_02)
I didn't recognise the shape of the gust lock on the photo of the last page so I already suspected that it would not apply to my DA40 but only to newer models.
