GTX345r traffic limitation on ForeFlight
After flying with my new fancy ADS-B transponder for several weeks now, I have come to the unhappy realization that there is a huge problem with traffic on ForeFlight via bluetooth on my iPad. While the G1000 displays an interpreted compilation of all source data for traffic (direct air-air ADS-B targets, TIS-B rebroadcast targets, and TAS600 TCAS targets), the ipad ONLY displays TIS-B targets. So when ground tower reception is lost, all targets disappear from Foreflight, and additionally, the added targets from direct air-air ADS-B and TCAS are not shown on the ipad, ever! (traffic alert yesterday on G1000 with the target not on ForeFlight at all) So while I may get a traffic alert on the plane from a direct signal from ADS-B or TCAS, these will not show on the iPad unless they are also being rebroadcast via TIS-B that is being received. Flying from an area of tower coverage to a dead spot will cause ALL targets to disappear from ForeFlight, with the 0 Towers designation in red in the top left corner, while the G1000 will continue to display all the locally/directly obtained targets still. Garmin support said that should not be the intended activity on the iPad (of course!), but was unsure of how it is actually programmed to relay to the iPad. He also asked if the same behavior is seen on Garmin Pilot, which I do not have. What is the experience with this situation for other pilots using the GTX345r and iPad also, perhaps also with Garmin Pilot?

Re: GTX345r traffic limitation on ForeFlight
I've found that the Garmin Pilot app is much better at this than ForeFlight. The Garmin app has slowly become my app of choice as they've gotten more competitive in features with ForeFlight. It also has the advantage of being integrated with the same web-site that we use for G1000 updates, etc.
Yes, I would prefer not to have to rely upon Garmin for everything digital around my flying.

This is not a behavior I've seen using FF with Stratus as ADS-B in.

Rich,
This is not the behavior either of FF using Scout as ADS-B source.

Right, I'm thinking it's an integration problem between FF and the GTX. Getting it resolved could be a long haul due to that old factor among competitors in the tech world known as co-opetition

I don’t think happens in my DA40. I do also have the Flightstream 210 so not sure if that makes a difference but I will check tomorrow.
