Hello guys,
What do you think about parking my da40 in the hangar with a trestle below the rear tail skid.
As there is a bar from the hangar structure below my horizontal stab, i’m afraid that in case of a flat tyre it gets down and hurt the stab.
This is why I had tonight the idea of putting the trestle.
In order to place the trestle I have to lift a bit the tail 10 to 20 centimeters.
Do you think that it can damage something to let it like this when i’m not flying.
I mean that it can stay like this 2 or 3 weeks.
Let me know.

Re: Parking with trestle
I see your problem.
One thing that comes to mind is you'll be keeping something of a compressive load on the nose wheel all the time it's like this. I don't have any idea if this'd be harmful.
I'd make sure the trestle is attached to the tail so if the plane were jostled that it woudn't fall off the trestle.
I go through this tail-lifting exercise every time I jack the plane up, as my tail stand is a bit taller than necessary. It ain't easy.

Re: Parking with trestle
I don't really see a problem if the main tyres stay inflated but if one does go down then there will be a large load placed on the tail skid.

Re: Parking with trestle
Hello,
Thank you for your advices.
I found a trestle a little bit less high, then it is really a few compression.
Karl you are right, but I think that this is better like this than having the stab hang on the bar.
Arnaud.

Re: Parking with trestle
How about carefully let the tyre down and see if the tailplane is going to hit the structure.
It might stay clear, or if it is only just going to touch maybe park the aircraft on a sheet or 2 of plywood to give extra clearance.
