Hello,
What is the influence on the engine, the speed, the power, the consumption, etc if there is no more LASAR on my plane?
It has been removed some years ago, before I bought it, and then I'm asking myself on the difference to be with or without the LASAR.
Thank you.
Arnaud.

Re: LASAR
FWIW, we bought our DA40 right after Diamond quit including the LASAR. They said it was because they were having problems with CHT's.

Re: LASAR
Our flying club in southern Sweden has an early bird DA40-180 (2001) with the LASAR system still running.
Works fine, runs smooth and easy to start both cold and warm.
A bit tricky to find spare parts if (when) something fails though...
Hope to be able to keep it for a while, before having to convert the ignition system.

Re: LASAR
New to the forum. Just bought 2003 DA-40 which has regular mags but also have a Glasair Sportsman tail dragger which has a Lyc O-360 with the LASAR ignition. The electronic ignition is supposed to advance the spark and allow a more efficient fuel burn. But as many have found it creates more heat in the process and the engine airflow isn't designed to take away the excess heat --- thus the high CHT's.
