A recent comment by a young passenger
A few weeks ago I was doing the Young Eagles thing. The first one of the day was a young man of about 16. We took off, full tanks, at about 2280 lbs. or so, DA 4500 ft. He blurted out something I've heard several times before: "It's like being in an elevator". With T/O flaps one has the perception of being lifted by the wings, as opposed to following the engine into the sky.

Interesting... "Like an elevator" is the way my wife has also described its climb.

Yup -- the DA40 is the only plane I've flown that seems to "levitate" off the runway without requiring much pitch up. Interestingly, DA42s and DA62s with exactly the same wing/airfoil (outside of the engine nacelles) don't do this.
