Roll servo replacement

Post by Steven »

Has anyone in the Northeast US had a GFC700 roll servo replaced? I'm looking for a shop to do it. I've contacted several places and they are either unwilling or unavailable to do it.

Note that the symptom is that the AP kicks out occasionally for no obvious reason, with a red ROLL annunciator.

What does the factory say? Could they do it?

This is weird. How different can it be from other roll servo installations?

I assume the Diamond factory can do it. In fact that is Plan B. The plane is currently at Calspan in Niagara Falls. If they can't get it done London, ON looks to be about an hour away.

As for why it is different, I don't really understand. I think some places are scared off just because it is a Diamond and they haven't seen one before. Others maybe are busy with ADSB installs and they don't want to deal with an ambiguous problem that will take some troubleshooting. One place (a Diamond Service Center) said they would need a "special tool" to calibrate the servo, or something like that, and they don't have one.
