Hi all!
For a while I've been mulling over a thought about installing a bubble canopy on my 2007 DA40. I fantasize that I will get more head room, sun visors, and a new glass (not that my current glass is bad). I finally went ahead and asked for a quote. Maybe, when I see the cost, I will just forget about it, but for now I'm still dreaming.
Has anyone done this? Any thoughts about it?
Thanks!

I haven't quoted this in a few years, but last time I did, it was > $5000

Re: Upgrading regular canopy to bubble canopy
Does anyone here have the visors in their DA40 or DA42? Do you use them, and are they worth it? I flew N556LU westbound for over 20 hrs, with more than half of that time seemingly into the sun. While I certainly would have liked a visor, it wasn't anything a baseball cap or stick-on sunshade couldn't solve.
Yuri, if you're taller than 5'10" then you might like the extra headroom, but I've always found that the 'rollbar' seems to be more of a problem for taller pilots. Of course, a DA50 cockpit could solve that. ;-)

Re: Upgrading regular canopy to bubble canopy
I can't believe it took my six months in my original DA40 to figure out, but the $5 pop-open sunshades at an auto-parts place work fine on the canopy. Two suction cups. I just throw one up once I am at cruise. If I need to, I add more. I think one hot summer I had ten on the canopy at noon.

I use a couple of Sun Visors with suction cups. They are solid acrylic with hinges to fold up. Thought I got them from Aircraft Spruce but couldn't find them now.
