S-Tec 3100 autopilot STC for the DA40

Very good and informative thread. Somebody mentioned DA42; it would be nice to get more detailed info from the source on this. My questions would be related to replacement of KAP140, comparison with G700 upgrade (I wonder whether Diamond offers it at all any more but AFAIK it was in range of 50k) and availability of EASA STC (I guess they will aim for FAA first).

Colin had the Diamond Canada factory upgrade his DA42 TDI to the GFC700; perhaps you or he could start a separate DA42 thread to discuss, since I expect multiple people would be interested in this topic.ememic99 wrote:Very good and informative thread. Apparently for installations without an EFIS, the S-TEC 3100 uses an additional air data computer, which in turn uses the barometric correction data from an encoding altimeter to enable the autopilot to capture altitudes.

I've been following Genesys' attempt to integrate the G1000 and the STEC 3100 for Mooney aircraft that have a G1000/STEC 55x setup. It's not very encouraging -- see https://mooneyspace.com/topic/30614-ste ... situation/
