Glad you got it working in Windows 10, Dan.

If you are only interested in simulating IFR procedures and G1000 buttonology, you can configure the G1000 sim program to accept your joystick (and other) inputs and actually fly it! It's 100% IMC - you don't get any outside visuals - and it doesn't attempt to reproduce any DA40 performance or handling characteristics like FS or X-plane, but it is great for practicing anything G1000-related in the comfort of your living room.

Update -
I purchased X-Plane 11 and the updated G1000 panel is very good. It doesn't have every screen from the real thing, but all of the buttons and switches work just like the airplane for navigation and approaches. I have been using the new 172. Definitely worth 60 bucks. If you click on the MFD/PFD they pop out into separate windows which I position over the windscreen during "IMC".

John & Martha King have a pretty good series on the G1000.

I just received my DA40NG Aircraft with Garmin G1000Nxi. But I did not receive any CD from them.
Could you please send me the link to get one.
Really appreciated.

Thank you.

There is also a pair of iPad apps that are G1000 PFD and MFD simulators. You can run them independently, or -- if you have two iPads -- tthey will even sync up and let you simulate both screens. I found these to be pretty close to the DA40 experience -- and mostly correct in what the real device does.

The apps are from Simionic, and they work really well. They interface well with X Plane. Can't think of a better simulation value than a computer running X plane plus two iPads (one PFD, one MFD), stick, rudders and throttle. My wife is using just such a setup to learn the basics.

Hi all, I'm looking for a recent version of the DA40/F G1000 Trainer disk. I can't find it anywhere on Garmin or anyone else's site. I am happy to pay for the disk (that is, I don't need a pirate copy), and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have been unable to find anything about purchasing the G1000 PC Trainer on the Garmin web site. I did find a free download of v13 on Sporty's which seems to work, other than it's giving me a couple of advisory comments. It wants me to register with Garmin Connext, which doesn't exist anymore. I get the feeling that Garmin has abandoned his product.

I do see that Garmin is offering G1000 training at the HQ in Kansas for $800.

I'm running v12 as well. Works fine. An installation tip.

There have been some installation issues under Windows 8 and 10 (which may be why the program is technically not supported for those systems). The one I’ve seen is lack of installation when using the main setup executable. The menu loads but selecting “install” doesn’t do anything. If one goes into the “install” folder and  starts the exe file from there, it works just fine.

I think you can download an entirely legal and free copy of v13 of the PC trainer from Sporty's.

The embedded links don't seem to obvious so here it is again:
