DA40 to rent around Boston/Providence

Post by linzhiming »

Hi,

I am going to be between Providence and Boston and the end of May and have been looking for a DA40 to rent for a couple of days. However, most flight schools and flying clubs seem to have "only" C172s, PA28s or SR22s. Does anyone know of an airport where one could rent a DA40 in that area?

Thanks

Wolfgang

East Coast Aero Club at KBED used to have one.

Thanks for the pointer, Steven. I have checked with ECAC, unfortunately they no longer have the DA40 in their fleet.

Try Waltzing Matilda Training

They operate a DA40 at KOWD.

Unfortunately I haven't been successful locating a DA40 so will probably have to stick to a C172 or PA28. Does anyone know someone who would be willing to rent out their aircraft for 2-3 days without charging a minimum utilisation per day? The flight schools that I have spoken to at KOWD seem to require a minimum of 3 or 5 hours/day.

3 hrs/day minimum if fairly typical for most flight school rentals, but you might be able to strike a deal with owners if a plane isn't scheduled to be busy. In the Boston area, I've flown out of Hanscom Field (KBED), no relation ;) , and I hear good things about Beverly airport (KBVY) as well, but those are both fields north-west and north of Boston. I've found the Boston area airports tend to have heightened security procedures.

I rent out of KBED (East Coast Aero). If mid-week and not busy they have waived the three hour. But I am a regular customer.
There is another rental fleet there, I do not recall the name though.

Wolfgang,

Though at this time I’m not interested in renting my DA40 to someone I don’t know (no offense intended, I’m sure you understand), if you would like to go flying together at some point during your stay let me know.
