For some reason I get an alert that my rear canopy door is not latched when the temperature is colder. Seems it stays on for a while and as things warms up goes away. Has anyone experienced same and any ideas how to remedy the problem.
Thanks

Re: Rear Canopy Latch Alert During Cold Temps
When you close the latch, there are two pins in the door that go into the holes in the surrounding framework. The front pin presses on a switch in the hole that confirms the door is latched. My first guess would be that the pin is not pressing the switch enough as it gets colder. It could also be the gas strut within the latch needs to be replaced - does the latch lever seem to hold tightly closed, or does it want to pop open slightly?

Rick, thanks for the quick reply. The rear canopy closes firm and does not back off. I am thinking the switch needs to be bent up a bit to counteract the shrinkage when it is cold.

Re: Rear Canopy Latch Alert During Cold Temps
Keeping this dual switch properly aligned can be a challenge. I just noticed this summer that my front canopy "open" alert isn't working. The actuating arm is catching on the frame so it always senses "closed". I need to go in and tweak it. It was once working fine, but I can't say when this stopped functioning properly.

Rich, is that a k1600 in the pic? I have a 14 R1200RT and love it. Sold a 93 K1100LT a couple of years ago with 190K on it. Love these bikes!
