KAP 140 STC'd replacement
Genesys Aerosystems is interested in developing A digital autopilot for the diamond DA-40. The unit will be very similar to their STEC 2100. They have asked me to survey kap 140 owners on their interest in A new digital autopilot with capability equal too or exceeding the GFC 700.

Re: KAP 140 STC'd replacement
Can you elucidate further? Specifically, are they seeking to provide a direct replacement for existing KAP-140s, i.e., a unit that will simply slide into the existing KAP-140 tray and use the existing wiring and servos? Would the proposed product eliminate the need for the remote gyro? What new or enhanced capabilities would it offer? How much would it cost? How would it be better than the KAP-140?

Yes, direct replacement to the kap140 that would fit the existing panel mount. No more gyro it would receive information from arhs. See stec 2100 that would be the unit that they would be using as a starting point. Servos would be replaced. Price is still the big question.

Re: KAP 140 STC'd replacement
Just to clarify, it sounds like this is aimed at G1000/KAP140 systems, no?

Re: KAP 140 STC'd replacement
Potentially interested.
Would like to learn more - obviously price is a big determining factor. Will it integrate the altitude preselect into Aspen?
I would love IAS hold...

I would think that wass would not be a necessity. IAS hold would be in, see stec 2100. They are wanting imput on what a replacement autopilot would need to offer, and if there is an interest.

Interested in a slide-in replacement for non-g1000 aircraft also. Cost is a determining factor.

Re: KAP 140 STC'd replacement
I have had very good luck with my KAP 140. Unless my KAP 140 breaks or unless a new autopilot was very cheap and very good, I am not particularly interested in replacing something that works well for what I need an autopilot for.
