Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
Thanks all. I will see if I can pick up one from an older plane if possible. For $8000 my wife will just have to pack lighter.

Get the parts from a salvage if you can find one. Not cost effective to go new. As far as labor it takes about 2-4 hours of actual work. You have to remove the rear seat to attach more cargo strap hold downs. That took the most time.

Hello Matt,
I have one in the garage, so if you are interested I can sell it to you. But I am based in Europe, so not sure if all the process is of a much sense... PM me.

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
The Extended Baggage Compartment in my opinion is a huge improvement. It allows you to take bulkier cargo such as bicycles, snow boards, golf bags etc. Yes the CG could be an issue but if you are only taking two people and some bulky cargo this is a big plus.
It is quite large so shipping one from Europe could be expensive but still worth obtaining second hand.

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
Hi guys,
Does anyone still have one compartment from a salvage plane?
I’m in France.
Thanks!
Arnaud.

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
Hi Arnaud,
what are you looking for exactly? I would have some parts for a luggage room modification in the hangar of a conversion and could make the cheap. If interested just a PN.
Best regards
Thomas

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
I have an extra extended baggage “ski tube” and rear bulkhead if you want it.
I removed it from my airplane and installed the “3-way” baggage compartment.
Send me a PM If you want it. Not expensive.

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
Reviving this thread - I’m looking to add the extended luggage compartment to my 2002 model. Does anyone have any tips on sourcing one outside of the factory?

Re: DA40 Adding the extended luggage compartment
For those that feel the added volume has no real usefulness:
There's more than a single part, BTW, so if you find a salvage unit make sure you get all the bits.
