G1000 checklists
Hi all,
Has anyone gotten the G1000 MFD checklists to work after upgrading to the 0321.23 software on the G1000, and more specifically, has anyone managed to do this on a non-WAAS DA40 with the KAP140 autopilot?
We normally run with the main data cards in the bottom slots of PFD and MFD as well as one in the top slot of the MFD to log flight data. I've put the chklist.ace file on all three and still can't get checklists.
Help!
Thanks,
Kent

Re: G1000 checklists
Hi Kent,
Just last week I put checklists on my 2006 DA40 with 321.23 and it worked. The plane has been WAAS upgraded.
Maybe try having the .ace file only on the upper MFD card? Just a guess...

Re: G1000 checklists
I'm mostly wondering if the WAAS is the difference. This page http://aviationmentor.blogspot.com/2014 ... redux.html says that:Pancho wrote:Hi Kent,

I haven't been able to find anything elsewhere on the web that says this, so I'm looking for verification. I thought 0321.23 was going to bring back checklists for all of us.Not all G1000 installations support electronic checklists, including the current G1000 software version for many DA40 aircraft that introduced a bug preventing the checklist file from being accessed. There is an update from Garmin that fixes this for many DA40, but no fix is currently available for non-WAAS G1000 and KAP-140 autopilot-equipped DA40. That's a shame because it is one of the more common types of Diamond singles out there.

Re: G1000 checklists
Is there anyone with a G1000 non-WAAS/KAP140 bird out there that has even attempted this?

Re: G1000 checklists
Kent,
It seems that the 321.23 software version is only for WAAS-equipped DA40's. I have attached the Garmin Service Bulletin for the 0321.23 software. It claims to support only 3 specific configurations:
- GFC700 with WASS
- KAP140 with WAAS
- no autopilot with WAAS
It would be possible to produce such a release by only including support for the GIA63W and not the GIA63, which is probably what they have done, but I don't know for sure. I do know that the update worked fine in my WAAS-equipped DA40, and it did restore the checklist function.

Re: G1000 checklists
For whatever it is worth, My non-WAAS KAP140 equipped DA42 has electronic checklist available. I am not sure of the G1000 software version, but I have not been made aware that AI need (or should) upgrade to a different version than the one I have.

Regardless of what that document may say, 0321.23 is for all DA40's - We have a non-WAAS KAP140 bird and we got the upgrade to 0321.23 several months ago.
I just can't seem to make the checklists work, and I saw on another site that the non-WAAS KAP140 airplanes still can't do electronic checklists, but that's the only place I've seen that said. I'm just wondering if anyone has even attempted to get checklists working on a similar configuration.

Re: G1000 checklists
Ahhhh, I misread your question entirely. But that is good information, that 0321.23 works for all configurations, not just WAAS. Given that, I can't imagine the checklist feature being dependent on WAAS vs. non-WAAS in any way, that just doesn't make sense. You should be able to simply copy your chklist.ace file to the lower MFD card, and then the check list button should work on the next G1000 restart. There is also some information about the checklist file (if found) on the MFD startup screen with all the other database version information. Does anything show up there when you power up your MFD?Kent Shook wrote:Rick,

Reviving an older thread to see if anyone did manage to get the checklist feature working on non-WAAS DA40 with 321.23?

Re: G1000 checklists
Russ,
I have a non-WAAS G1000. I can't tell you off hand what version of software I have, but it is the latest version that Diamond has certified to be used. The checklist feature works perfectly on my airplane. There was a time when it did not in an earlier version, but for more than a year now it has been working.
Edit: looking at earlier posts in this thread, I see that I have to go to my plane this weekend and see exactly what version of the software I have installed. I will post again on Saturday after I identify my software version.
