Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
Why couldn't an A&P fix a pump? They are qualified to fix power plants and Airframes. These are part of the airframe right?
While there are Repairman that are certified to fix the pump I think an A&P can legally do the same. He just has to be willing to sign off on it.

Gene, Let us know if you can source the correct brushes. This might be good preventive maintenance.

Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
An interesting thread. I am having issues with radio noise and my fuel pump. Failing brushes would definitely be a source of electrical noise.
Thanks for the information gentlemen.

What pump do you have? My new replacement pump makes horrible radio noise.

Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
Lance, I believe I have the original Duke pump. I ordered a Weldon for replacement. I have about 300 hours on the plane which seems to be in the range of failure give the other comments. I'd rather be proactive on this particular item.Lance Murray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:34 am What pump do you have? My new replacement pump makes horrible radio noise.
Which pump do you have?
I also think ferrites might help.

Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
If it did this from day 1, be sure the chassis is properly grounded. It actually requires slight disassembly of the pump when installing to properly ground it. And when we replaced my first pump my mechanic noted the grounding wasn't done per standard practice.Lance Murray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:34 am What pump do you have? Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
My duke pump didn't make any noise. The Weldon does. I haven't torn things apart to investigate it. I think I will soon.

Re: Question regarding Electric Fuel Pump
Just following up on this thread. New pump installed, not audible while running and no audio noise. Zero flow pressure ~ 35 psi. Sounds like it is fixed!
