I haven't purchased but if the GE DS2 is a substitute, I see a price here of $23.50/pair. http://www.hidoutlet.net/hid-xenon-bulb ... QgodFgYA9A
I also see options for color temperature and warranty.

Hey guys,
could anybody send me a copy of their 337 for the Whelen 71685 installation? Winter is coming quickly and I would love to have them installed as well!

Florian-
If you PM me your email address I will send a copy to you. I tried to send one via PM but the file is too large.

I could use that 337 paperwork as well. My email is ehotair@me.com

Something strange I noticed for the first time last night. With the LEDs on, when I turn the strobes on one of the LED's (I think the outboard one) goes out for a brief second then comes right back on. Anyone else notice this?

Haven't noticed anything like this at all with mine. Check those connections for anything loose.

Yep, you are not alone. In our case, activating flaps causes it.Tim H wrote:Something strange I noticed for the first time last night. I can only offer a guess that transient power fluctuations on the bus are activating a circuit protection device built into the light.
We have installed in the taxi position, and have to say that the illumination pattern is not particularly impressive.

Same thing here. The lights will shut off for about one second when flaps are activated or strobes are turned on.

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
LEDs are powered by a "driver circuit" which provides the correct voltage and (most important) current. Most LEDs use a constant current driver. Within the allowable voltage range, the driver will provide a constant level of current to the LED. Go above or below the range, and light will simply shut off.
My guess is that you are momentarily dipping below the minimum voltage for the LED driver circuit to operate. With an incandescent lamp, it will get dimmer as the voltage drops. With a regulated LED light, you will get identical light output within the voltage range of the driver and nothing outside of it.
That being said, I have never experienced this on our DA40. I can even crank the engine without getting the LED lights to shut off.
