Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40
Congratulations- I can’t believe how such a long and painful process that was. No DA40 for me any more but I hope a few people take advantage of this. Looks like a great performance upgrade. The ability to fly higher and faster will be great.

Do you have performance data that you can now publish?

BRS has done a great job over the years of posting the data we have. Unfortunately all of the required FAA flight testing is done to simulate extreme or worst case scenarios. As a result most of our flight data is done to those standards to ensure that all of our individual parts result in a complete system that performs reliably beyond/within those test limitations. This results in a large volume of flight data that is essentially useless from a realistic use standpoint.
That said, we at F.A.T. do have some flight data from years past and BRS may have more that he has not posted in this thread already. What we have learned while developing these systems over the last couple decades is that every pilot operates their aircraft in a slightly different way and they generally want different flight data than every other pilot. If there are specific performance numbers you are hoping to see feel free to let us know and we will try to capture it in a subsequent flight.
What we do know is that during our development and testing our test plane has seen an IAS increase of as much as 26kts in level cruise. This was a best power run feeding as much fuel as the beast wanted. I am at home as I type this so I don't have the exact data in front of me but I doubt many people will fly in this configuration very often. Best climb is improved by about 500fpm at all altitudes above 6000msl. On the other end of the performance spectrum we can still dial back to the same FF/RPM/MP for a given altitude that the plane operated at normally aspirated and achieve zero performance gain. Again, I doubt people who are interested in increased performance are going to operate in this configuration very often. There are countless possible FF/RPM/MP/altitude configurations between those two extremes that will obviously produce the full range of 0-26kts/0-500fpm increases.
With that in mind the system is designed to provide the best cruise performance in the 12,000-14,000msl range. This is where all of our aircraft achieve the best range LOP and fastest IAS at best power. Above and below that sweet spot there are still performance gains to be sure, particularly the ability to confidently climb to altitude at gross weight on a hot day.
I'm not sure I answered your question as directly as you had hoped but hopefully it did answer some of your question. As I said above, if you have a specific flight profile in mind we can try to include that in a future flight.

Congrats. Just wondering if the $30K price also includes the mods and painting to the composite cowling?

Did the test plane have EIS as well, or is it running on Mags

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40
Our development plane has mags only. We have installed our existing systems on a number of aircraft with electronic ignition in the past though. No issues with mag/mag, mag/eis or eis/eis equipped aircraft in the past.trepine wrote:Did the test plane have EIS as well, or is it running on Mags
