Exactly that, plus a tiny amount of bending of the copper strip, solved our problem with all three lights.Diamond13 wrote:If it was my light, I would try a wee speck of conductive paste in the area where the copper engages/disengages, some avionics shops use it during antenna installation....

Re: Overhead Light Repair
I pulled all three overhead lights out yesterday and brought them home for repair.
The passenger light plastic had melted and I had to warm it up to restore a suitable shape for spot light movements.
Not very nice to find that out.
I bended the copper plates to restore a good electrical contact. I'm not sure how long it will last though.
I ordered LED bulbs from Bulb Town website. I presume they will produce less heat than the tungsten bulbs.

Re: Overhead Light Repair
The LED bulbs draw very little current and produce almost no heat. I managed to leave my pilot map light on over a recent weekend trip (from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon) with no noticable effect on the battery. With the stock bulbs, I know (from experience!) my battery would have been dead on Sunday.Jean wrote:I ordered LED bulbs from Bulb Town website.
