Lithium Battery Pack Back-up G1000 2012 model
Dumb question but any help would be appreciated. I need to change my b/up battery pack next month. Where is the pack located on the aircraft. Any direction would be appreciated before I go on the hunt. Thanks so much folks. I have learned so much from this forum.

It should be behind the instrument panel, on the copilot side. If you remove the glare shield, it's right there on the far copilot end. It's pretty easy to get to and change.

Bring a small Phillips screwdriver, small socket (can't remember size) and some patience. A bit tricky to reach the screws especially when installing the new one.
If you haven't had the glareshield off before it can take some jiggling to realign all the holes going back in. As with most things leave everything loose until you get all the screws started.

And don't forget you need to disconnect and reconnect the 2 panel lights and defrost hoses as you lift out the glare shield. Not very difficult.

I learned (the hard way) that on the glare shield (and cheap computer cases), get *all* the screws started, and *then* start tightening them.

That is good advice for any assembly task. The assembly manual for the SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engine) power head specifies the same method...Colin wrote:I learned (the hard way) that on the glare shield (and cheap computer cases), get *all* the screws started, and *then* start tightening them.
