Hi
We are overdue doing this on our DA40 also - the paint is all flaking away.
I called local PPG agent and was told that Steelguard was discontinued. Not sure if that's true.
Is it worth trying to get Diamond to certify Contego or something more accessible to us?
If anyone has an order of paint inbound to East coast of USA and wants to split it - please let me know. We need to do at least the inside of the cowl.
Thanks

Hi, Everyone. Looks like Diamond finally came out with the solution (at least for DA40ng) and now they are recommending to substitute fire retardant pain(intentional typo :D ) with a resin Sika Biresin CR132FR. Service bulletin here http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin ... wlings.pdf

I couldn't find it in small quantities yet and it requires some special hardener that has a 12 month shelf life only.

Details on the product here:

Interesting that it is a resin and not a paint. If anyone does this soon please post photos.

Interesting, I wonder if it will get approval on the DA20, what kind of cost is involved and if it is really any better??

I spoke to the manufacturer representative in the US and she said that this product is only available in Germany, not licensed to import into US. it is not expensive, around 10 euros for 1 liter plus hardener.

The good news (maybe) is that there is a new style firepaint available from Diamond.

Hensotherm 2K, fire retardant paint.
Hensostop 84, topcoat.

stay tuned, as we are almost out of the old style firepaint.
