Diamond Colorado Fly In - 2021

Post by Rich »

Trying to organize a fly-in this summer, probably at KFNL, but somewhere in the Denver area. Options are selfishly based on my (Rich) own availability. The plan is for a primarily weekend event, but could overflow in an ad hoc manner. Completely informal. You'll note you can fill in all options if you want :D

I'm flying west coast to east coast in August, so my attendance (with Aug 28 preference) is not assured.

I voted for August - hopefully the US-Canadian border will be open by then to allow us to more freely travel into your part of the world!

I checked with the KFNL folks. Any events they had scheduled this summer have been cancelled, so we're good to go any weekend we come to agree on. There is an airshow still scheduled in October, but that obviously won't affect us.

If we get something catered in on, say Saturday Night, it looks like we could get some tables set up in the jet center hangar. There's a BBQ place across the interstate that caters, as one option.

Let's see how the poll plays out in the next week or so and then kick it around.

I'm scheduled for an event in Colorado Springs Aug 4-6. So immediately before or after would be great. Thanks

Has everyone that might make it responded? It seem that August dates work best, with the 21st in the lead. Small sample size, though.

As I said, I'm in Colorado Springs on business August 4-6, then I need to be in Vegas for another event by end of August. I might be able to do the weekend of Aug 21 if I can find a good route to Vegas from there. I was going to fly commercial from Atlanta, but maybe I fly myself and stick around and do some Colorado sight-seeing in between. Have you flown Denver to Vegas? Would I follow I-70 to I-15? Is that direct route too high for a normal DA40? Anyone have suggestions? I've only flown south and north of the Rockies back and forth between Atlanta and west coast.

I’ll be flying west coast to Maine. I think it could work, but my schedule is not finalized. It’s the best of the lot for me.
