Re: HELP: Login required after each click
Found a workaround for keeping a session alive. Never touch any of the items on the site's menu list, such as "Forum Home", "Control Panel", "Inbox", etc. Limit myself to the "back" arrow and page refresh browser options and the session stays live

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
I really don't know. Also, I need to login more frequently and I have no clue why as we did not change anything.

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
FWIW - After months of requiring repeated logins, the problem mysteriously disappeared for me yesterday morning.

Did you miss the rev. 0.99999 autorepair upgrade?Steve wrote:Too bad airplanes don't repair themselves like that...
Seriously, my login behavior is still weird in relation to the prior major release. At times, I can be logged in on one page and find myself listed as a guest, unable to post, when I move to a subsequent page. I recall one day that I logged in repeatedly but every time I went to a specific post, I was no longer logged in.

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
Yes, this nagging issue is a head-scratcher. For me, it will occasionally work fine for days or even weeks at a time before reverting back to the login-needed behavior, with nothing having changed on the server. I haven't had the time yet to dig into the cookie-handling code to figure out what is going on.
One symptom is that if the URL in your browser contains "sid=<gobbledygook>", then it probably means your session id isn't being handled properly. For me, it seems to occur when following a link or a bookmark which uses http://diamondaviators.net instead of https://diamondaviators.net. I seem to have had some better luck since changing all of my bookmarks to use https://diamondaviators.net/forum (without the sid= part) and by avoiding the home page. Of course, YMMV.
Once I can set aside a block of time to do more debug on this, I'll PM some of you to try to get some more info about reproducibility and client configs.

That is a very helpful clue!
It hints at why everything works great on my portable (Android) devices, but not-so-much on my desktop.

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
Ha! Just tried to post on this after being logged in on another topic. No joy. I ended up clicking on the link sent in the email. I'll give the secure URL a try but I generally log in from the links, which seem to be https.
At the end of the day, it is not a big deal, maybe not worth your time.

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
This general problem reemerged a few days ago. I can be logged in on one page and logged out when I go to a different page. When I log in on that page and go back to a previous page, I am logged out again, and so on. It is not consistent but does seem to apply navigating forward and backward.

Re: HELP: Login required after each click
The last time this happened to me (several weeks ago), here's what I did that seemed to work.
- Use the "Delete all board cookies" link on the bottom right of this page.
- Close all DAN tabs in the browser
- Follow this link to https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum (make sure to use 'https')
- Sign in to the website and be sure to check the 'Remember me' box.
- Confirm there is no sid=... in the browser URL. If there is, use the link in step 3 to clear it.
