My airplane has come back from an annual and I found some lines of liquid on MFD.
I tried to wipe them off with Zeiss lens cleaning wipes (which I've been using for many years) but ended up smudging the screen.
Looks like the liquid was sort of grease or something and it deteriorated the clear coat.
Now I'm crying. I've been keeping PFD/MFD in pristine condition since I owned the airplane.
My question is...
What would you do with the maintenance shop? I'll definitely talk to them but is there any advice how to negotiate? I'm 100% sure the liquid was dropped during annual, but it was me who tried to clean and smudged the screen, so I'm not sure how the liability goes...
Is there anything I should try to fix the screen deterioration?
The fact that it smeared is probably a good sign, meaning the liquid is sitting on the surface of the glass and not permanently etched into the anti-reflective coating. Garmin recommends using a cleaner specified as safe for anti-reflective coatings. Most eyeglass shops will have something like this. Garmin also says to use isopropyl alcohol but never anything with ammonia.
