DA42 incident at KVNY

Post by haykinson »

Pictures from KVNY show a DA42 with a gear collapse that closed 16R. (Picture not mine.)

The only DA42 operating in the area at the time was N199TS. Local aviation group is reporting no injuries.

Oh no, closing of arguably the most famous - and busiest -- general aviation runway in the world: 16R at KVNY.

I bet they had it off there in a hot minute. Lots of shops right there along that side of the airport. For little planes 16L is fine.

They were landing 34 at the time. It was pretty blustery and turbulent with north winds and stormy weather in the area. Many planes were being diverted to KBUR. Some jets were able to depart on 34R. I heard on LiveATC a crane being cleared to taxi and then cleared to taxi back with the plane. They did 34L back in operation pretty quickly.
