Some time in the last few weeks they have bifurcated this into different tools and data sources. The traditional one cuts off at 2008 and the new one (named CAROL) starts off from there (supposedly - on the CAROL page, it says it starts at 2010).
This CAROL tool uses an entirely different user-interface paradigm, where you manually construct elements of the query (for you SQL folks) and retrieves based on that. OK, I can figure that out.
It looks like it's a work in progress. A couple of days ago, it would return seriously incomplete data for both Diamond and Cirrus. I actually sent a note to them pointing this out. Today it looks like the defect may have been corrected.

If you're referring to this, it's still available. Stuff shows up here that never makes it to the NTSB site:

No. The NTSB site had a monthly list with links to preliminary or final reports. It was easy to scroll through. I can’t find it after the website change and switch to the CAROL tool.

Bryan, I didn't know about that one. I will say this tool looks to allow more tailored inquiries. For example, it's better at allowing filtering for non-fatal accidents. But because it combines all transportation sectors, it does add some klunkiness.

Re: Online NTSB accident database
Nominally it still has the same limitation on model, with DA40 yielding different results than DA 40. But the query can be constructed to get past this, since it uses the search filter as "contains". Therefore the workaround is to use Diamond as the make, with, e.g., 40 as the model.

Re: Online NTSB accident database
I found this also works in the pre-2009 tool, as well. Interesting after all these years to discover that. It just hadn't occurred to me to try.Rich wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:43 pm Nominally it still has the same limitation on model, with DA40 yielding different results than DA 40.
