Leftovers
Over the years I've had a few things upgraded/replaced, leaving me with the various parts removed. Even though most of it probably has no real value, I hate to discard perfectly usable stuff. I kind of feel like a hoarder
2002 DA40-180: MT, PowerFlow, 530W/430W, KAP140, ext. baggage, 1090 ES out, 2646 MTOW, 40gal., Surefly, Flightstream 210, Orion 600 LED, XeVision, Aspen E5

You are not a hoarder.
I buy stuff as replacements before the item fails and requires replacement! I have a spare starter, voltage regulator, electric fuel pump, mechanical fuel pump, VM-1000 screen, VM-1000 computer, VM-1000 fuel gauge, lighting inverters, various engine sensors, etc. I justify investing in this stuff by being able to switch out a failed unit immediately, plus some of this stuff is made of unobtainium, but basically,
I am a hoarder...

Re: Leftovers
Rather than preparing for possible replacement this is stuff that was removed and is mostly unusable by me. The only exception is the mag/Slick Start I removed since installing the Surefly - a hedge in case I want to revert.

Re: Leftovers
Yes, I retain that stuff, too. I have the old alternator replaced by my Plane Power, the original clock replaced by my CO guardian, the Whelen strobes, the original audio panel replaced by the PM-7000BT, and so on...

"Hello, my name is Rick and I'm a hoarder." Yeah, same here. I have shelves in my hangar with every old part I've replaced over the years. At this rate, I may be able to build a second DA40 one day from spare parts!
