Nothing to do with it being a rate based autopilot. SW could have it follow the hold - no different than following any other GPS course lines. It's the SW IMHO.

How is the attitude indicator related to the ability of flying holding pattern?

I noticed early on that the KAP 140 also won’t do the inbound leg of the 180 degree procedure turn on approaches with course reversals. You have to switch to heading mode to initiate the turn on the inbound leg. These turns, like holds, on shown as lines on the charts and are in that sense published bur are not meant to be precise flight paths. So it may be a software issue.

An update on the g1000 WAAS upgrade:

I have been waiting since early October for the involved parties to coordinate the WAAS conversion for my DA-40.
Initially Diamond stated they were waiting for Premier to schedule the upgrade to find out later that Diamond was back ordered on the “OSB conversion kit” until mid December. This preventied Premier from scheduling any work. Still no word on availability.

Barry, have you received any update from Diamond or progress with your conversion?

Charles K, any clarification from Diamond on GTX 345R relocation and wiring? This would be helpful for labor estimates/quotes when things finally happen.

It seems that Diamond initiated the program before they were really able to support it.

Hi

I need to check with my shop. I still don’t have the estimate. My shop has the OSB kit and the GIA63Ws.

I’ll email them today to check in. Plane gets dropped off 1/18.

I pulled two GIA63Ws and a GA35 and GA36 antenna from a plane getting a new panel. If this can help anyone out upgrading to WAAS, let me know.

A question for anyone who has had or considering the DA-40 WAAS upgrade:

Do the screens need changed for the upgrade?
I have a 2005 model with original screens.

Thanks

Assuming you have no autopilot or the KAP140, the GDU screens/bezels DO NOT need to be changed to add WAAS. This should be the case for a 2005 DA40 model.

The 2007 DA40-XL (with no WAAS and a GFC700 autopilot) DO require a new MFD GDU/bezel when adding WAAS to support the additional capabilities WAAS brings to the GFC700 (e.g. enroute vertical path navigation).

Please be sure any GIA63Ws you obtain outside the Diamond upgrade program includes a "yellow tag" (FAA form 8130-3) or you may have a problem using them to upgrade your aircraft.

Hi there - no new screens required for my 2004 DA40-180 with KAP140. Install scheduled with annual 1/18/21.
