G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program

It seems that letter for Europe has been sent out to some Diamond representatives but DAI Austria didn't bother to inform DAN group about this. Maybe it's just a draft not ready for public but it doesn't look to me like that - what I saw looked pretty much the same as letter above for US market. However, I wasn't able to find any related info at DAI web.

Progress Update on my DA40-180 2004 WAAS upgrade:

Diamond has my deposit on the GIA63Ws.
Diamond has GIA63Ws for me.
Scheduled for upgrade at Absolute Aero at KHWD early November.

I will post any updates.

Has anyone received direct correspondence (e.g., email) from Diamond regarding the upgrades offer? Or is this the only notification you've received?

We would really appreciate having more visibility into the response to Diamond's upgrade offers. Posts from owners like Emir and Charles give us some idea what is working, what is not and if there is any interest in the upgrade offers.

If you've contacted Diamond, or intend to, please post your intentions and your experience with the process.

WAAS upgrade:

I have contacted Diamond about the DA-40 G1000 WAAS upgrade. I am presently on the list for a GIA 63W unit when one becomes available. As expected, the unit will come from someone else upgrading so the timeline is not predictable. Obviously the upgrades are a one to one exchange so the numbers must be very limited.

I was emailed and called after my inquiry.

When the upgrade becomes available, I will inform the net.

TomO, do you know what number on the list you are. Thought Diamond had a modest supply as they said of GIA63W units. Are you working with Ed At Diamond?

I do not know my “number” on the list. Had asked last week and was told I would be hearing from them.

I followed up with DAI Austria, asking a slot for the WAAS upgrade of the legacy G1000 on my YOM 2007 DA42TDI.
DAI answered that this was currently not possible because the upgrade could not be achieved with just any GIA63W version, but (ref EASA STC 10048207) would require a specif part number (GIA63W P/N 011-01105-01), of which neither DAI Austria nor DAI Canada had any unit available.
DAI further informed that they are working on a solution that would eventually allow for various GIA63W versions and that such a solution would probably be available after another approx. 6 months.

Did anyone manage to register for a legacy DA42 WAAS upgrade with Diamond Canada?

klang - I did hear that the DA42 TDI required a specific version - not sure why. My shop that is going to do the upgrade told me that. I am getting some fairly new -20s that apparently will not work in the 42 TDI but will work in my 2004 DA40-180. The complexities inherent in the G1000 continue to both amaze and dissapoint me.

TomO - they should be able to tell you where you are. Try Ed who I am working with. E.Hollestelle@diamondaircraft.com - he seems to be quite knowledgeable about all of this.

Initially contacted Ed who had Will Hawkes (Tech Support Services Manager) contact me by phone and email. Pertinent info was exchanged for the upgrade.

Just glad to know I am on the list. Only wanted the number to plan some other maintenance.
