New Toy for my Diamond Star.

Post by Don »

Yesterday, I flew out to Chino Airport where they manufacture AC Air Technology robot tugs. They have never built one for a Diamond Star before so they needed to test and fit on my nose gear. My pilot wife was thrilled as she now struggles maneuvering our DA 40 in and out of the hanger with our existing tug. Also, this new tug will allow us to park our plane five feet closer to the hanger door making room for one more collectible car in the back of our hanger. I expect delivery in about three weeks. So if any others are interested, AC Air Technology will now be offering this tug for Diamond Star owners.
Here is a video moving a Cirrus.

Also, it looks like you could ride around inside while driving it with the 'bot. Really nice when it is pouring rain and you want to get it into the hangar while staying dry.

Great ideal Colin. Pulling out of hanger would be easy. Not sure I would try backing in the hanger from cockpit as the Diamond Star has a hugh blind spot. I noticed when controlling the bot with the Joy Stick my driving skills were a little
shakey as I was over controlling the inputs on the the stick. But like anything else, I will get use to it after some practice.
