I have no information about NXi upgrades, but I would be really surprised if Garmin developed NXi software for non-WAAS versions of the G1000.HPNAviator wrote:Now that Diamond have announced the NXi for the DA40NG, DA42NG and VI, the DA62 with the rumor that the XLT will be supported soon. I wonder if Diamond/Garmin will offer upgrades to existing G1000's and if that will include the non-WAAS versions of the G1000.
The "good news" is that if you're already replacing both screens (PFD/MFD) for an NXi upgrade, adding WAAS would seem to only require GIA63 replacement with GIA63Ws. This might lower the incremental cost of a WAAS upgrade, since without the new NXi screens, you still need to replace the MFD to get the VNAV button/functionality.
Another unknown is whether Garmin's NXi software only works with the newer GFC700 autopilot servos that support ESP and coupled missed approaches. If so, this would create a lot more work (and expense) to upgrade pre-2014 DA40s and DA42s to NXi.
