FAA issued same Note as EASA:

Is says DA42-NG aircrafts are affected but I believe that it includes -VI as well. Can someone confirm or correct?

Re: AD Note for Austro Engine
The AD actually refers to the engines, not the aircraft. It says that it applies to, "Austro Engine GmbH model E4 engines and for all model E4P engines..."

Re: AD Note for Austro Engine
Of course - it says "We revised this AD to allow affected Austro Engine GmbH model E4 engines installed on Diamond Aircraft Industries (DAI) model DA 42 NG and DA 42 M-NG airplanes and Austro Engine GbmH model E4P engines installed on DAI model DA 62 airplanes to comply with paragraph (g)(4) of this AD by adding, respectively, Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) Temporary Revision (TR) TRMÄM-42-973, and AFM TR TR-MÄM-62-240, both dated August 12, 2016."Sandy wrote:The AD actually refers to the engines, not the aircraft. But since I'm not familiar which engines are installed in different versions of DA42 powered with Austro's, and Diamond refers to some aircraft as NG and to some as -IV, while Type Certificate recognizes only DA42 and DA42 NG, I asked if DA42-VI (as it's known by that name in sales terminology) is affected by the same problem.

Accoding to Type Certificate all AE powered DA42 and DA62 are affected.

Re: AD Note for Austro Engine
Austro AE300 is used strictly for marketing purposes. The actual engine model numbers are:
E4-A DA40 NG single engine with reversed intake manifold to fit the fuselage cowling
E4-B DA42 NG twin engine that was produced 2009-2012
E4-C DA42-VI twin engine produced 2012-current (Note: a DA42-VI is certified as a DA42 NG with MAM-600 mods applied during production and is used only for marketing purposes.) The E4-C engine has a different shaped radiator compared to the E4-B.
Austro AE330 is used strictly for marketing purposes for the engines on the DA62:
E4P-C DA62 twin engine produced 2016-current. It's mostly an E4-C engine with different firmware to drive a 1 in bigger diameter prop and more turbo boost to produce 180 hp.
The AD applies to all Austro AE300s and AE330s *EXCEPT* the E4-A engine of the DA40 NG single, since pilots presumably don't intentionally shut down single-engine planes in flight!
