Does anyone know what the "market response" is specifically to the DA50 RG? Any sold in Europe since approved last year? Any indications of U.S. demand? Or is this "market response" just a generic referral to Cirrus/parachute popularity?
Thanks,
Drew

As far as I know, Diamond will not start taking orders on the -50 in North America until OSH. I have not heard how they are selling in Europe.

I asked RR aviation about FIKI and got this response:

"yes, FIKI is standard equipment on the certified version, coming in 2023!"

And you may have noticed that Diamond put up their DA50 documents on its website under "DA50C" (presumably the "C" is for the Continental turbodiesel engine). So you can now read performance info included in the DA50C AFM:

Or C is for the third (or more) version of DA50, an ever evolving but not happening launch it seemed. Won't be at OSH to see it; but grateful for any more insights, advice you have on the plane. If I decide to pursue, will likely buy and fly a used Arrow for awhile; else the insurance companies will throw up over jump from DA40 to DA50RG. And I'd not be able to afford this without buying or rental partners--any folks in Dallas TX area interested in DA50 co ownership or rental agreement please let me know.
Thanks,
Drew

The DA50 appears to be the first Diamond with the new G1000 NXi Phase 3 software, with its new AIRFRAME configuration file, and GDU Version 21.45 software:

Similar NXi Phase 3 software should be coming later this year for the DA40, DA42, and DA62.

Cruise performance per the AFM is disappointing -- Max speed at ISA with max power (82-90%) is only 172 kt (14000 down to 10000) with fuel burn of 14.3-15.9 gph. Performance begins to fall off at 16000.

It’s because the DA50 turbos critical altitude is only 8000 feet. In contrast Austro turbos have around a 12,000 foot critical altitude.

Even still, these cruise numbers are worse than a normally aspirated SR22! And it has significantly less range and no chute.
