You think that mask is going to protect you when your close enough to rub elbows? :)
The medical profession believes so because that is one of the ways that surgical staffs prevent infection when they are working on your chest split open for surgery. If the masks didn't provide value, the surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists wouldn't wear them.

It has a compass:
I believe you, but I couldn't find it in the picture.

It's mounted at the very top of the windshield in the center. There's a little circle on the airplane diagram in Rob's attachment to indicate where it's located.

I saw that, I just don't see it in any of the DA62 photos or videos.

I was just sort of curious whether they had either eliminated it, or substituted some solid state device.

One of the photos (5th one down, IIRC) in this article shows it pretty well on a 2019 DA62. But I couldn't see it in the video either.

Yeah so not all countries wear them number one... And number two, they are not wearing them in hopes of not spreading a virus.. I’m not anti mask by the way.. I’m anti blind sheep

Implicating that people who follow medical advices are blind sheep is ... let's be polite and say questionable. And definitely doesn't belong to this forum.

BTW what's your medical/science background?

Maybe @CFIDave know whether new models have some replacement.

Per AFM 2.13, mag compass is required for even day VFR flights. Flew a brand new DA62 from the factory this past June, and it had it mounted per the most recent AMM.

While the visor mount is blocking the face of it, you can see the spherical back of the compass mount in this screen grab from the video:

Boatguy wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:33 pm Two questions though:

1) No guards over the engine master swtiches?
2) No wet compass?
1. The DA62 engine master switches (just like the one in your DA40NG) require you to pull "out and up" to move, minimizing the possibility that you could accidentally switch off an engine in flight -- so no guards needed. However a guard was added to the DA40NG switch because of the unfortunate proximity of the Engine Master to the smaller but similar backup electric fuel pump switch -- student pilots were accidentally shutting down the engine when only intending to turn the backup electric fuel pump on or off. (The DA62 uses very different white plastic rocker switches for backup electric fuel pumps -- so there's little chance for confusion.)
2. The wet compass isn't located in the instrument panel, but up high above the windscreen in front of the sun visors.
