Greetings,
Our DA62 Factory Warranty is to expire in 2 days. I am having an annual and an inspection done at Absolute Aero in Hayward, CA but would like to hear of any potential issues one might overlook on a DA62. So far it’s been a great experience with the exception of the rear door not sealing and passengers in the rear freezing while flying in cold weather. The factory, last year authorized Absolute Aero to caulk the areas (on a $1.4m plane??) without success. I just hope not to find other issues that were missed while it’s out of warranty period.
Any advice would be very appreciated. It’s a long shot but if anyone is near by and would like to do an inspection as “second opinion” I’d be happy to pay any fee. Thank you.
Mike

Re: DA62 Warranty Expiration Recommendations
Check gearbox magnetic drain plugs for metal shavings (something that should be done at every 100 hour service interval already).
At the end of my warranty period, an inspection revealed one of my gearboxes had large chunks of metal attached to the magnetic drain plug; there was no abnormality detected from flying the plane.
As a result, I got Diamond/Austro to provide me with a new gearbox under warranty.

Re: DA62 Warranty Expiration Recommendations
Like Dave said, check gearboxes. If you were close (within 100 hours) to the 600 hour TVD inspection, that may be another consideration. Those have been our costliest repairs on our 42VI
Any paint blemishes you haven't mentioned are another thing. We had chipped paint on all leading edge transitions between TKS and paint.
