GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
]In doing our check out flights in our new ( 2017, 62.053)
Da-62, we are experiencing the gps kicking out at gs intercept on gps as well as ils approaches... i plan on calling diamond support tomorrow, but thought I’d reach out to the community to see if anyone has had this experience... we do have nxi phase one g 1000

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
What do you mean with „GPS kick out“? On ILS approaches GPS is not used. Do you mean the autopilot? What error messages do you get on the G1000?
And no, this is not normal.

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
GPS loi; ads b not transmitting; ahrs -1 not receiving gps signal ;no gps position on mfd; apr downgrade, use leave minimum; abort approach; terrain n/a
I tried to add the photos i took but it looked like even 1 photo is too large of a file

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
Phase 1 vs Phase 2 should not make a difference.
GPS LOI only happens at GP or GS intercept?
Does it happen if you intercept before the FAF or only at the FAF?
Obviously you can fly the ILS without GPS. Does the AP refuse to fly the ILS approach without GPS?
I suggest you take a look at the GPS signals, for both GPSs, in the AUX pages and see what they are showing before you have the LOI. Then leave that page displayed and see what happens when you experience the LOI.

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
Great idea- it happens at gs intercept / all gps approaches were done outside the faf; all were done using vectors to final ..
we were able to shoot the ils , but at approx faf got notification the gps signal was not reliable

The other thing I suggest is a fresh install of all the software. If you don’t have a software install card your avionics shop can do it in 1-2 hrs. You can also save your crew profiles first so you can restore them after.

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
This is really strange. Was it always the same airport and runway? Maybe there is a local GPS disturbance on the approach path? Do other aircrafts expirience issues? I am wondering why apparently both GPS loose lock at the same time and location...

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
I am going to predict a loose GPS antenna wire. It sounds like a signal blocking issue has you enter the realm of the ILS glideslope projection. So outside of that the GPS signal is strong enough, but when you enter it the additional radio signal knocks out at least one of the GPS signals.
There are a couple times "lost GPS signal" actually meant that one GPS was interfering with the other.

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
I was thinking about an antenna issue... going flying today and will pull up the aux page and observe the gps signals during the approach ... will report back .. thx for all the input

Re: GPS kicking off at glide slope intercept
Just leaving my avionics shop- determined transmitting on com frequencies in the 121 area kicks the gps signals off : he can’t believe the com 1 antenna is so close to the gps antenna ...anyway, talked to diamond tech support, opened a ticket with them- has anyone experienced this in the 62?
