Owners' maintenance experiences
Someone on the Cirrus COPA site is thinking of buying a 62.
He has asked for help in addressing some concerns expressed by his current (Cirrus) LAME about Diamonds and I wonder if any of you owners can clarify for me and I will pass the info on.
I'm most interested in the maintenance experience of DA 62 owners. Have they had any atypical air frame or engine issues, any problems finding qualified maintenance shops, difficulty obtaining parts, lengthy annuals, problems decoding manuals, weird AOG items, customer service failures, etc. I'm just trying to figure out if my mechanic's experience with that one plane was atypical, or could be indicative of a fleet wide problem.
Many thanks
David

Re: Owners' maintenance experiences
The engines are basically the same as the DA-42 NG or -IV
Considering how new the fleet is, you may get more answers making the question a little broader to include the DA-42.

Re: Owners' maintenance experiences
Finding qualified maintenance shops is most probably related to the area you're located. I have an excellent shop 40 min flying from my base airport and Wiener Neustadt factory is at the same distance.

Like they say in the real estate business, it's "location, location, location."ememic99 wrote:Finding qualified maintenance shops is most probably related to the area you're located.
Without knowing where the potential owner is located, it's hard to answer the question.

Re: Owners' maintenance experiences
Diamond's website shows a Diamond Service Center about 60 miles away in Farmingdale, NJ:
https://www.diamondaircraft.com/custome ... e-centres/
Be advised, however, that this map is incomplete. For one, Falcon Aviation Academy Maintenance at KCCO in Newnan GA is a full blown Diamond Service Center yet does not show up on the map.

are you refering to the Aeroservice in Lesce?
Thinking of going there for next maintenance. Prices are very reasonable compared to shops in Austria or Germany.
What are your experiences?

Re: Owners' maintenance experiences
Hello
I'm taking my DA62 to Glen at Southtec Aviation on Monday for its first annual. It had 41hrs on it when I picked it up at factory and I have put around 130hrs on it. So 170hrs total time. My only maintenance expense to date has been the 100hrs oil change. Other than a few warranty items I have had no problems. I don't have any squawks other than fit and finish that will be cover under warranty.

Yes. My experience with them is very good - they are maintaing my DA42 since I purchased it and currently they are upgrading it to CD-155 engines.Wilfried wrote:Hi Emir,ememic99 wrote:Finding qualified maintenance shops is most probably related to the area you're located. Great! I am curious about your experiences with the new engines. Please share your experience!
Btw: Years ago I was also interested in SE-MAD, you were obviously faster...
