If I still had my DA42 I'd stick with an iPad Mini. I don't think you could mount a full-size iPad in a 40/42 without it getting in the way. Apple needs to come out with an "iPad Mini Pro."

Just let me know what color you'd like. ;)

Did any of the DA42 owners in this forum install the

Optional SB 42NG-068 Date 2017-12-05
Retrofit Installation of Tablet Mount on the Canopy Frame

I was just asking my shop for a quote.

It does look gorgeous and huge.
Colin,
I had my full size iPad mounted on the pilot's side (using a RAM ball mount) and never felt that it was "in the way". I always waited until the plane was started and safe before moving the iPad from my lap to the mount. Just another point of view for you to consider.

A mini in a 42 cockpit feels like it get in the way as is. A 10" iPad pro wouldn't fit on the pilot side unless I got out

RAM mounts are great, yet have found products by mygoflight.com even better:

I've used both and yet switched to mygoflight products many years ago and have never looked back since making the change.

Hi Scott,

Interesting! What configuration do you use?

Those look nice but on a first glance I didn't see any mounts that matched the mounting holes already in the DA62. I'll contact the company and see if they have something.

You might get the best results if you ask for Dominic at mygoflight. If you still hit a dead end, please feel free to call me as I've been tinkering around with all kinds of different combinations for several years now. 360-658-8866 (pacific time)

On a related note the smaller Garmin Aera 660's can be a terrific option and can supplement the use of ipad's - plus they can cut down the amount for heads down time swiping at an ipad. Also, the 660's have superior screen visibility in bright sunlight, don't suffer from heat problems and can minimize ipad swipes - especially for those of us who do not have the SV feature on our G1000 PFD. These units (ipad with a 660) used together is an awesome combination (IMHO).

Finally, for ipad cooling (to avoid untimely ipad shutdowns in our greenhouse airplanes), check out:

Mygoflight has a slick adapter for these as well.

Hope this helps.

What exactly do you use in DA42?
