iPad Mount Options
Hello, I'll be picking up my DA62 next week in London. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the best options for mounting an iPad. That is, what type of mount and where to locate it? Thanks!

Re: iPad Mount Options
Hello and Congrats on your DA62. I picked mine up in May. If you don't know the DA62 has 2 built in mounts for the RAM Diamond base #RAM-B-238U-5 on both a-pillars. Simply remove the 2 screws and install mount. You might have to get longer screws. I did not have to get longer but I think CFIDave had to get longer. I use both mounts. Pilot side has my iPhone the other my Mini iPad. I have the RAM-B-201U Standard arm and they work perfectly. Enjoy your plane and let us know what you think of it.

Here's my iPad Mini using a RAM mount on the right side A-pillar, making use of the 2 mounting screws already there -- I did need to replace them with longer screws:
And it was nice of Diamond to make standard a pair of powered USB ports under each end of the instrument panel, making it easy to run a power cable (USB to Lightning) to the iPad.Epic Aircraft E1000 GX

Re: iPad Mount Options
Thanks, I did not realize that there were two mount locations in there already. Great to know!

Re: iPad Mount Options
I decided my old iPad Mini 2 had gotten too slow (and its battery wasn't what it used to be). But rather than replace it with a new iPad Mini 4 that Apple hasn't updated in 2 years (amid rumors that Apple will be discontinuing the iPad Mini), I elected to purchase a new iPad Pro 10.5 inch full-size tablet with a processor that's even faster than what's in the latest iPhone X.
This required a larger RAM X-grip tablet mount (RAM-B-202-UN9U), but still seems to fit in the relatively large DA62 cockpit (bolted to the right side A-pillar) without blocking anything. The X-grip mount lets you place the tablet in the plane without having to remove any size iPad protective cover -- just fold the cover around the back before installation.
Here are some pictures of the iPad Pro in flight:

Re: iPad Mount Options
Thanks for the photos! I'm waiting to order the parts until I actually see my aircraft, which is supposed to be delivered today. (But I've thought that on previous days as well.)

Re: iPad Mount Options
Hmm, you are making me reconsider my dedication to the Mini. If it were on the pilot side and in a DA42, do you think it would be in the way?
It does look gorgeous and huge.

Dave, I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing pictures of the interior of your DA62. Hint hint!
