Cary

Sorry to hear your not going to be flying!
It was great meeting you and your wife in Med Hat a couple summers ago. I usually have an extra spot in the garage so be sure to stop by again if your driving through.

Thanks Doug,
Believe it or not, meeting with you (and the help you gave us), was one of the hi lights of our adventure. I really hope to see you again.

I covet that plane a little bit. I like the doors, air conditioning, interior, and especially the landing gear. I am sad to give up landing on grass strips even though I had only landed on two in the Diamondstar. Well, the same one twice.

The wingspan is daunting, though. Not sure it would fit on the taxiways at Katama.

The tires are much bigger so grass landing may be possible. Grass in a DA42 is really problematic as the skinny tires can depress into the field and then the gear door would become damaged. My plane sunk into the grass while it was just on static display at an airshow. It had to be gently lifted to move it off the grass.

The wing span is also an issue in the DA62. My DA42 barely fit in our 50 foot hangar. It looked like the 62 is at least a couple of feet wider but I don't have the specs.

Always nice to help a fellow aviator out and meet the our "forum friends" in person!

I wasn't sure how or when to bring it up, but my last DA42 has also been bought (and already re-sold) by Diamond Aircraft. I have also sold my hangar.
Several thing happened to cause this:
1 - Started a new job Jan 2015 and have had very little time to fly - only 35 hrs in 2015 instead of my usually 150+ hrs
2 - Had both hips resurfaced this Feb and won't be allowed to fly for at least 6 months
3 - CDN$ - US$ was very favourable to sell my plane, cost me approx $5,000 in capital to own plane for 3 years.

Its easy to buy planes and when the time is right I will buy another one, likely another DA42!

Hope to cross paths again!
