“We will also begin taking orders for the DA62 at Aero,” says Diamond Aircraft chief executive Christian Dries. “We have already received a lot of interest in the aircraft, but we haven’t wanted to take anyone’s money until we are sure what we can deliver and when.
*cough* D-JET *cough*

Maybe they've learned a few new tricks over the past few years...

DAI has been at this point with the D-Jet, DA50 and maybe some other plane I already forgot. Starting a new forum will happen when the first DA62s are delivered. It is still a long, long way.

It their video they say the DA62 will have two 180hp engines. Other company sources say it will be 2 x 170 hp. It wasn't really easy to make the DA42 a 200kt-plane. I wonder how they will do it with a seven seater and the same engines.

Actually, the maiden flight of the formerly called DA52 was about 3 years ago with 180hp engines. See here http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ ... rst-flight

Here is a video:

This is just plain hilarious! I have not yet had time to watch the video (saving it for my PM coffee) but THIS calls a reaction.

Indeed. Looks like they've already received EASA certification.

Although with full fuel on the Euro DA62, you're down to 2 european sized adults on board.

I like it. The extra 100nm range is always good & the significantly better cabin + luggage space sets this apart from the DA42.

Cruise speed is probably pretty comparable to the DA42-VI.

You'd need quite a large hangar though,... - 14.7m wing span, that's 1.2m wider than the DA42.

People have overlooked the most important new Diamond Aircraft innovation! :D

They can now build aircraft in COLORS! (Just like Cirrus, and Cessna with its TTx)

Diamond changed the composite formulation so that aircraft are no longer restricted to white composites to reflect heat. The new DA62 is the first Diamond aircraft reflecting this new look.

DIA Canada was using my plane for demo flights last week. While chatting with the Diamond guys on the ramp, they confirmed that they have a DA62 in Canada and have been flight testing it. Seems pretty legit that it could show up at Sun n Fun.

A DA62 appearance at Sun N Fun would be very surprising. Our DA42-VI will be on static display at the Diamond exhibit all week, and nobody has ever mentioned a DA62 also showing up there.

The Diamond exhibit will be staffed by people from Premier (the southeast US distributor), and LifeStyle Aviation (the mid-Atlantic US distributor, formerly called Dominion Aircraft Sales). This is from the email blast sent out by Premier:

"As in years past, Premier Aircraft Sales will be hosting the Diamond booth on manufacturer’s row. We will have their newest models on display including the DA-20, DA-40 XLT and the amazing new DA42-VI. Stop by to get the latest information on the aircraft with the best safety record in their class – or to just say hi! Diamond will be at its normal location in spots MD 23 and MD 24. For more information and to plan your trip, visit: http://www.sun-n-fun.org"
