Dear friends,
I have the G1000 Flight Deck Trainer for DA42NG (v9.03).
Anyone knows on how to update the database?

We have an entire thread here that describes how to update the database in Garmin's G1000 trainer so that you can "fly" current approaches:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5294
Basically you copy the latest Jeppesen/Garmin NavData file off of the SD Card you use to load the aircraft's real G1000, rename the file, and replace a similar file in the Garmin G1000 PC Trainer.

Re: G1000 Trainer for DA42NG
This inspired me to try to update my Garmin 530W PC trainer, whose nav database dates to 2007, which I use for my non-G1000 DA40. Since my aircraft is away for maintenance, I was able to use the nav database from the Cessna NAV III trainer I have, which dates from 2011. However, when I then tried to use the nav database from the G600/G500/GTN750/650 PC trainer, which dates from late 2016, the nav file was not the same and there were two of them. I changed the name of each as I did with the 2011 data, but neither worked. According to Garmin that PC trainer uses Garmin nav data instead of Jeppesen nav data. Therefore, I'm wondering if we can use our SD cards to update the PC trainer if we are using Garmin nav data in our aircraft.

Re: G1000 Trainer for DA42NG
I believe that the format of Jepp vs. Garmin NavData files must be the same, otherwise how would an older version of G1000 software that was written to use only Jepp files be able to recognize a Garmin NavData file?
Also, Garmin and Jepp now both write TWO NavData files on SD Cards each month, a big one for G1000 Version 15 GDU and above (and also GTN 750/650 units), vs. a smaller file that can be read by older G1000 software. It's the smaller one that all Lycoming DA40 G1000 panels use, so this is the one to copy to Garmin's G1000 PC trainer.

I agree it doesn't make sense but I tried again this morning and it didn't work. I changed the name of GTN simulator's nav_db2_grm.bin file (the smaller of the two nav data files) to worldwide.bin (the name of the file that is read by the G530W simulator) and substituted it for my current worldwide.bin file (the re-named G1000 NAVIII avtn_db.bin file). Message in the G530W simulator says no Jepp data. When I get my aircraft back I'll try the current data from the unit.

Thank you for your helpful comments!
Replacement of Garmin database worked out very well.
With the Jeppesen database same experience as Bernie. Did not work either.
