Certified IFR for a DA-20-C1. i.e. bonded wings and static discharges.

Re: If you could change one thing in your airplane
Just thought I would throw this into the bucket.....'04 DA20-C1. Could not be happier....extremely fun to fly, easy access to work on, very low insurance cost, practically fly's itself, goes where you point it, very, very easy to land, easy tow bar pull, lots of attention with 3 wheel pants, very frugal fuel consumption, very comfortable seats, easy nose wheel steering, satisfying cruise with MT prop, no corrosion problems, I can actually afford to fly! It is what it is., etc., etc..

DA20-C1 with a carburetor instead of fuel injection.

Spinner: Why, do you miss carb ice? I remember cars before FI. Lean, rich adjustment screws, clogged venturies, constant tuning, adjusting chokes, etc. However, just looking at 3 two bbls. on a '57 Chevy 283 Power Pak, was a beauty to behold!

I miss the simplicity of the carburetor. I miss not having to be a rocket scientist to troubleshoot injection issues. I miss installing a carb and not having to touch it for 2500 hours. Least I could figure out a carb ice problem most times lol.

Just be glad you didn't have pressure carbs like I had on my 1958 C310. Expensive to maintain and you couldn't do much to adjust them. They went to FI the very next year (1959) and never looked back.Spinner wrote:I miss the simplicity of the carburetor. I miss not having to be a rocket scientist to troubleshoot injection issues. While we are at the parts level. I'm thankful for our Lyco's simple fuel pump system, unlike the Continental in my turbocharged Dakota, which requires two engineers, a panel of gauges, and a winning lottery ticket to adjust. I mention it to some A&Ps and they begin to make excuses about having dental surgery that day, even before I say what day.

I agree with this +heated pitot(but I guess that goes with certified IFR!)
My #1 wish that my DA20 had is an autopilot!

Since we are making a wish list, I would like is a real keyboard for loading up the G1000. It would have to fold out from under the panel.
