Rich,

I agree on the old HB wing (even more so on the unmodified HB wing) and I should have made that clear. The transition from flight to non-flight is abrupt. It would make me uncomfortable in certain high DA situations.

My experience with the new wing is different from yours. As you know, 9,000 MSL is low in my part of the country. I've flown turbocharged and normally aspirated loaded PA28s from Salmon to Sun Valley around and over Hyndman with climbing reserve. I have done the same in my DA40XLS and its performance is anemic by comparison, not counting the fact that it is packing a much lower payload.
