Good luck with your decision. I've never flown a Cirrus but have 500+ hours all in DA 40 variants. I bought a 40 NG in 2019 and love it. I find it to be a very capable IFR machine so don't really understand soem of the comments on its IFR limitiations, apart from FIKI absence of course.

Having flown the XLS a lot initially with the prior generation G1000 I would only suggest holding out for either an NXi-refurbed XLS (if they exist) on an older 40 or buying the 40 NG used or new with the G1000 NXi. Its a stark difference in my view. Also, the ease and enjoyment of the NG fadec / Austro combo continues to impress me and builds on the original 40 XLS capabilities in almost universally positive ways
