ADS-B IN/OUT Now available for all US reg Diamonds
THis is the banner on the Diamond Aircraft site but there are no details for this. Does anyone have inside info on the solution for the G1000 w/WAAS?

Re: ADS-B IN/OUT Now available for all US reg Diamonds
No inside information needed: I think the website banner may have been referring to this public announcement from Diamond Canada last year:
http://www.diamondaircraft.com/wp-conte ... FINAL-.pdf
But the timing of your question is interesting: Just this week Garmin finally got EASA to certify the GTX 345R transponder (which provides both ADS-B IN and OUT) in Europe.

This means that new DA42-VI and DA62 aircraft, all built by Diamond in Austria (and ferried to Diamond Canada for North American/US customers), might soon be able to include the GTX 345R transponder.

Re: ADS-B IN/OUT Now available for all US reg Diamonds
On our DA42-VI I upgraded my original GTX 33 to GTX 33ES for ADS-B Out (only) back in 2015 before the GTX 345R had even been announced. Relatively cheap upgrade that only involved sending in my transponder to Garmin (for $1200) for modifications. According to FAA testing the plane legally meets 2020 mandate, but I don't have ADS-B In.

What about at least getting a Stratus 2s to show the ADS-B on an iPad?

With an Avidyne TAS 605 active traffic installation, combined with a Garmin GDL 69A for SiriusXM satellite weather, I haven't missed ADS-B In traffic or weather.

I agree about the XM weather. I like it much more than I like the ADS-B provided stuff. But the traffic has been an eye-opener.

Dave,
Did you have any issue with WAAS on your installation? I have been told that there is some issue with providing the WAAS signal to the GTX-345 from the G1000.

Re: ADS-B IN/OUT Now available for all US reg Diamonds
I don't have a GTX-345R; I have the older generation GTX 33ES, which works perfectly with our WAAS G1000 as a position source for ADS-B Out in our DA42-VI.
The "issue" you may have heard about (which has been widely discussed here on the forum) is that G1000 software on the DA40 does not permit the GTX-345R to take advantage of a G1000 WAAS position source. This requires DA40 owners to pay $800 more for a version of that GTX-345R with integral WAAS, and to have a 3rd GPS antenna installed at additional cost.
