There is probably some cost involved in certifying the software, even if Garmin develops it for free. And Diamond probably no longer has the funds to support such an update or certainly had different priorities since 2008.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood that Garmin did the certification, and OEM's, such as Diamond, just had to configure it for their aircraft. However, Diamond seem to think not implementing the updates for their existing fleet will "encourage" their customers to purchase new aircraft from them!gsontheimer wrote:There is probably some cost involved in certifying the software, even if Garmin develops it for free.

I'm closer today to buying a Cirrus than I have been since I started flying. That new G5 holds all 3 of my kids, has a turbo, has FIKI etc. This year's model is vastly improved compared to a 2007 Cirrus. And yet my 2007 XLS, as near as I can tell, is identical to a 2013 XLS.

Paul, I completely agree. I took a look at the innovation of the Cirrus and am quite impressed. They actually roll out updates every year!! I am a huge Diamond fan (the safety, industry leading electionics (when the 1st rolled out), double spar wing, etc...), however, they are not giving me much to cheer about any longer!

There's a new 2013 model DA40 for North America called the "XLT." I have no idea how it differs from the XLS, but Premier claims it will be on display next month at Sun N Fun in Florida: http://flypas.com/index.php/who-is-prem ... ruary-2013Paul wrote:I'm closer today to buying a Cirrus than I have been since I started flying. I just received my DA40NG Aircraft with Garmin G1000Nxi. But I did not receive any CD from them.
Could you please send me the link to get one.
Really appreciated.
Thank you.
