But I'm cheating with the cords because I put in a USB port behind my left calf. The cord drops straight from the iPad mini to where it needs to be.
I have tried super glue and epoxy on the back of Velcro to get it to stay, but I have had the same experience as you with this additional glue. Just can't keep the Velcro piece attached to the plane.

I got some stick-on nylon cord tamer devices from Ace hardware and stuck them below the panel, out of the sun. Hang on just fine for years. They're devices like this:

And they can be opened and closed as desired to remove the cable.

Now I only wish the equipment wars would end - I'm using Garmin Pilot for flying and ForeFlight for flight planning and while thankfully FF gets GPS position from GDL39, it'd be nice for the WX and traffic to be shared too. I know, I know "dream on.."
https://support.foreflight.com/hc/en-us ... oreFlight-

Can anyone confirm that the GDL39 3D works with Foreflight? As Stratus does not work with Garmin I'm trying to decide which app to use. I get charts for Garmin pilot including Canada with my G1000 subscription so I plan to try both apps and if the GDL39 3D works both I can compare.

Thanks

Wife and I have a long flight tomorrow and she wanted to watch movies, so I rigged her up a little movie machine ;-)

Upgraded to Stratus 3. Changed out power cords for the Stratus and iPad (right-angle connectors at both ends of both cords) and changed to the new RAM yoke-clamp "Claw" for the iPad:

Rich, you have me interested in your last picture where you attach the IPad to the stick....very interesting!! Can you give me a PIREP on your experience using the stick with the Ipad attached?

This works well for me. The display is right below the six-pack so just a slight downward glance I can see the entire screen. I wear progressive lenses so it's a really natural process. I have full travel with the stick to all four sides and corners, but rarely reach extreme banking movement anyway and full rear travel is limited to intentional stalls and the last stages of landing. When synthetic vision is up it's right at the top of the display so it's a particularly nice augmentation of the six-pack. The screen is always in view except at extreme rear stick travel, where the iPad will come up just about to my chest.

With the iPad in this position it never overheats, as the sun doesn't get a direct shot at the face of the unit, just a couple of edges. In turbulence it also works well, as I still work the stick with my left hand and can brace my right against the unit to work the touchscreen.

It should be said I weigh in these days at 170 lbs. and have fairly slender legs. Those of greater girth might find this setup unworkable.

FWIW the Stratus (now a 3) is mounted inverted, directly forward of the stick beneath the instrument panel, with remote antennae on the glare screen.

Incidentally, this isn't by any means the only such gizmo I've had mounted on the stick:

- LS800 w/Windows and Seattle Avionics software. This thing was awful. Had to use a stylus - no touchscreen. And the stylus hot spots would drift off target as the unit heated up. Had to have it plugged into the accessory port.
- Garmin 695 and later a 795. These were OK, flew some fairly long flights with these things. But battery life is also lacking, they definitely needed to be plugged into the accessory port the whole time with traditional accessory plug, no USB.

With the Stratus and iPad, I'd often fly without them plugged in. But now with the Stratus left installed all the time I need to at least have that powered or I'd have to provide for recharging between flights.

Thanks for the report Rick, I am going to give it a try as I I have mixed feelings of the current position of my IPad (mounted on the left side in front of the left vent) in the DA40.

If you have the other stuff, you can order "the claw" separately direct from RAM. There are three sizes. The medium is what I have and works fine.
