Actually under non commercial part 91 you are not required to carry a flash light. See this months Aviation Safety page 16. Although why you would not carry at least four or five l.e.d. mag light pen lights 1 red 1 blue and 1 soft white a head light and a Cylume or 3 is beyond me.

I've been having trouble with the USB cable from the Stratus USB to the iPad consistently providing power. Sometimes it'd charge, others not. I finally noticed something about this particular cable: It doesn't snap into place upon insertion, relying on friction to hold everything in place. Thinking this could be the problem, I grabbed a pair of these for the Stratus and iPad, which snap firmly into place in both:

After a couple of tests this looks like the cure. They also come in 2 meter lengths, which I had lying around, that also work. But that extra meter is a less-convenient setup for my situation. 1 meter is just perfect.

Great info about the IPAD mount. Thinking about setup one on my Da40 as well soon with the inductive charger scheme. Two questions I have for this setup. 1. Is Full size iPad Pro gonna 11' gonna be too big to sit there? I found out that my current 12.9 Ipad pro to be too big to put anywhere in the cockpit. The CFI's IPad Mini works out okay, but a little on the smaller side. 2. Where does your USB charger hooks up to behind the panel? Would appreciate if there are some pictures about the wiring behind the panel.

I'm not sure specifically whose approach you're referring to but I'm using an iPad Pro 11 with mostly RAM gear plus a bracket I made that attaches to the front of the pilot seat. If you look back through this thread you'll see what it looks like. I replaced the essentially useless power plug with a Stratus USB, powered from the avionics bus by a dedicated breaker. I had 3 spare breaker spots available at the time. This allows me to power both the Stratus and iPad from ship's power under normal circumstances, plus the Stratus automatically comes alive and shuts down with the avionics master based on its documented behavior with external power.

From this picture, it seems more like a plate that got secured to the seat anchor bolt instead of a ball head that acts as a bolt that replaces the original tightening bolt. Can you give a link to the exact product you use at the base of the flexible rod?

I built the plate out of some standard aluminum angle from Ace hardware and bolted that ram ball piece to it. I've since tweaked it a bit more, using square channel rather than angle to improve torsional rigidity. I'll grab a current picture and post tomorrow.

Here is what I came to create. Two holes to match the spacing and size of those seat bolts and concentric larger holes to allow use of a socket to install/remove it. That blue wormy thing is used to hold my (now diminutive) flight bag in a convenient location for in-flight access.
This shows the clearance between the mount and the stick, which is easily adjusted on the "fly" I ground off one of the extra mounting supports of the Ram mount to give me more leeway in adjusting the mount while maintaining clearance.

That is an interesting mounting assembly. On my airplane, the seat upholstery attaches to a velcro strip along the bottom edge of the seat, which the 4 attachment bolts penetrate. With your square tubing in that location, how do you attach the upholstery?

Ah, I forgot that detail. Because it interfered substantially with seat removal, years ago I cut the upholstery along that front lower edge of both seats. The forward part of the seat pads are no longer attached in front. The just lay over the front of the seat pans. There's plenty of velcro elsewhere to hold the pads firmly in place.
