Re: iPad in DA40
I noticed that it is the mini ipad you are using in the picture, which fits perfectly at that location. I got a 10 in Ipad pro, which I'm kinda regretted because of the large size to fit in that crowed space on the corner. because I'm left eye dominated and I tend to put the ipad on my left side, the mid cabinet setup plan will be considered less ideal. After so many attempts, I came up this this setting which shows in the picture. I need the ipad to be at a distance from my eyes so that I don't have to adjust it frequently between Ipad, instrument panel and outside, meanwhile, reduce the reflection from the outside as much as I can without showing my shirt in the screen. The Ipad is right in front of the pilot vent outlet, which helps to cool down the ipad during flight. The most ideal location would be the storm window, which was posted previously in the thread, but there's a concern of the potential damage to the window securing latch since it is just a small piece of plastic. So, I choose the location cephalic to the storm window.

Bryan, if you're referring to me, I'm using a Pro 11", which really doesn't fit in that side location - as I found out. A mini would likely be fine. In my opinion you're right about the window if it still has the flimsy plastic latch. The placement of the iPad I went back to puts it about 12" from my eyes and below the line of sight of the important area of the instrument panel. Given this placement the variation in distance works perfectly for me because I wear glasses with progressive lensesyl472401 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 6:05 pm I noticed that it is the mini ipad you are using in the picture, which fits perfectly at that location. Ditto
BTW, are there any upgrade of the window latch available out there?

Oh, yeah. Try this thread:

To cut to the chase, here's where I ordered mine:

The Bronze latches are the most popular. I found I had to fiddle with them a bit but definitely worth the trouble

Re: iPad in DA40
That is right in line with manufacturer pricing of some other parts for our airplanes...

Re: iPad in DA40
Yeah, and that may still be cheaper than ordering the original plastic latches from Diamond!
