I have a friend, new Private Pilot, who is planning a vacation to Austria during the Summer of 2022. He has experience in both the Diamond 20 and Diamond 40 from his flight school training.
Where might he go (cities and airports) to fly either the Diamond 20 or Diamond 40?
Flying club, flight school?
Is it difficult to get licensed in Austria so he could fly solo or with family?
Thanks for any information that you might find helpful.

I can't answer your questions, but you should recommend a visit to the Diamond factory in Weiner Neustadt -- which I'm presuming may be open to visitors by the summer of 2022. If your friend contacts the factory, they might be able to answer his questions about where to fly a DA20 or DA40 in Austria.

Diamond Canada builds DA40s (Lycoming and Austro) and DA62s. But Diamond Canada provides wiring harnesses and instrument panels for Diamond Austria as well as Canada.
Diamond Austria builds DA40s (Austro only), all DA42-VIs, and DA62s, and is starting to build all DA50s. The Austro Engine factory (that supplies both Diamond Austria and Diamond Canada) is located a few blocks away from the Diamond Austria factory.
Both of these Diamond factories stopped producing DA20s, production of which seems to have been shifted to Diamond China.

Since we live in the EASA world one needs to validate a FAA license to fly an EASA registered aircraft in Austria. An alternative would be to look for a FAA registered one, but I don‘t know if one would be available.
In Germany I found some instructions how to obtain a holiday license validation => https://aopa.de/ueber-uns/private-pilot ... alidation/
I couldn‘t find similar instructions for Austria, but there could be a similar procedure. You need to contact https://www.austrocontrol.at/
There are certainly some flying clubs or organizations who operate DA20 or DA40. It might be necessary to become a member to rent an aircraft and also to do a check flight. If you wish to fly in the Alps, which cover large parts of Austria you might need special instructions.
https://www.flylinz.at/ has a DA40NG. https://www.wmw.at/de/flugsport/motorflug has several DA20. Language is no issue since English communication is standard.

Air Alliance is in Germany but they have a fleet with Diamond twins too... DA42 and DA62 if you wanna to take a detour for some lessons. I love their instagram too: https://www.instagram.com/airallianceflightcenter/
Perhaps they might be able to recommend a competitor in Austria...
